"Language of the Filipino Soul" Famous dancer and choreographer Martha Graham once said, "Dance is the hidden language of the soul." This is true because when dancers perform, their movements not only represent twists, turns, steps or leaps, but a more innate ability to tell a story—a story of their history, heritage and culture. Hiyas Philippine Folk Dance Company was created to convey this message in their performances, and continues to broaden the community’s perspective about the Philippines and its people—and in this case, speaks the language of the Filipino soul.
